New music in the library

24 09 2008

You may not always think of the library as a source for music. But hey, we try! Check out this list of some of the latest CDs we’ve gotten in or are on order…

Adele 19
“The U.K. press began dubbing Adele ‘the next Amy Winehouse’ in late 2007.” She is influenced by such artists as Roberta Flack, Dusty Springfield and Etta James.

Janet Jackson Discipline
This is Janet’s 10th studio album. “Deeply personal… the majority of [the album] relates to the more common elements of relationships.”

Pussycat Dolls Doll Domination
Nicole, Melody, Ashley, Jessica and Kimberly: the energetic dance-style of the Pussycat Dolls is sure to please!

LL Cool J Exit 13
Best known for the anthem “Mama Said Knock You Out,” LL is back with a gritty sound-off on everything from war to partying.

Coldplay Viva la Vida
“Gone are Chris Martin’s piano recitals… replaced by orchestrations of sound, sometimes literally consisting of strings but usually a tapestry of synthesizers, percussion, organs, electronics, and guitars that avoid playing riffs.”

Jesse McCartney Departure
If you like Justin Timberlake, you’ll probably dig Jesse McCartney. Borrowing similar sounds, Jesse delivers a pop album sure to get you groovin’. And FYI, Jesse co-wrote the mega-hit “Bleeding Love” sung by Leona Lewis.
