Feeling ignored… ?

5 09 2007

silhouette… You don’t have to feel that way anymore!! The Library is starting Teen Advisory Boards — TAB for short. What is a TAB, you ask? TABs are groups of teens who volunteer to get together and contribute their thoughts and opinions on what would make the library more teen-friendly. Think we should have a game night? Want to see a certain book or magazine on the shelf? Interested in starting a poetry or manga group? Then come to one of our TAB meetings and help us brainstorm, plan, meet new friends and enjoy some food!

Find your closest branch and check out the next Teen Advisory Board meeting:

  • Largo-Kettering — Saturday, September 15 @ 10:00 am
  • Beltsville — Thursday, September 20 @ 3:00 pm
  • Bowie — Tuesday, September 25 @ 3:00 pm
  • Spauldings — Saturday, September 29 @ 1:00 pm
  • Upper Marlboro — Saturday, September 29 @ 1:00 pm
  • Oxon Hill — Monday, October 8 @ 7:30 pm
  • Laurel — Wednesday, October 10 @ 7:30 pm

Not only do you get to express your opinions, do fun stuff, and eat — if you’re at least 14, you’ll be able to use the time you spend at meetings and planning events towards your community service hours. All you’ll need to do is have your parents sign our Volunteer Form (which you’ll get at the first meeting). So, have a look at our application (it’s pretty easy) and return it to any library Information Desk – or bring it with you to the meeting.
