New Moon soundtrack – review

18 11 2009

With the much anticipated November 20 release of the movie New Moon, devotees will get great satisfaction in listening to this soundtrack. Like the soundtrack of Twilight, the music in New Moon is moody, dark, and a perfect fit for the romantic turmoil that’s so much a part of the story. Delivered by some of the best bands in alternative rock, this soundtrack is top-notch from start to finish. Fans will have a lot to sink their teeth into especially Death Cab for Cutie’s “Meet Me on the Equinox,” Muse’s “I Belong to You,” and the Killers’ “White Demon Love Song.”—Ellie R , Grade 11, Floral Park (NY) Memorial High School (courtesy of SLJ 11/18/09)

Coraline, the movie

2 02 2009

coraline_movieI have to admit – I’m a HUGE Neil Gaiman fan. For those of you who are unfamiliar with his work, he has written both graphics and traditional novels, as well as picture books and short stories. Some titles are Stardust, the Sandman series, American Gods, and of course Coraline.

Coraline is one of my all-time favorites. It’s a super-creepy story about a how a bored girl spends a rainy day stuck inside her house. That’s all I’m going to say about it because I really think you should read it. There is a graphic novel version also. And on February 6, they are releasing the movie. So far, I’m pretty disappointed with the previews. Much of the creepy factor seems to have been lost. I’ll be interested to see if any new fans develop or if this was made specifically for a younger crowd…

Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist

I know you guys like this book — it gets checked out a lot. And I might have mentioned something about them making it into a movie (what doesn’t get made into a movie, right?) Well, here’s the trailer in case you didn’t catch it.

There is one huge switch they made in the movie that many fans aren’t too happy about. I won’t give it away, but I have to say, I’m mighty disappointed…
