Apparently there were rumors (although I never heard them) that Albus Dumbledore, the beloved headmaster of Hogwarts in the Harry Potter novels, was gay. Lo and behold, author J.K. Rowling revealed to an audience at Carnegie Hall last Friday night that yes, the character Dumbledore is gay. Rowling went on to explain “that Dumbledore was smitten with rival Gellert Grindelwald, whom he defeated long ago in a battle between good and bad wizards.” (www.baltimoresun.com) She continued by saying that Dumbledore’s love was his “great tragedy.”

I cant believe people are tarnishing the great name of Dumbledore with these remarks. I am ashamed of J.K.Rowling and those who would believe such lies.Dumbledore was a great wizard, dont ruin his good name
Why would being gay ruin someone’s “good name” as you put it? I certainly don’t think that being gay is shameful (and it’s beyond his control unless you believe it’s a choice!). It’s just a part (and in many cases, a small part) of of what makes a person who he or she is! The real shame is condemning other people’s (even fictional characters) lives or choices!
And I guess we SHOULD believe Rowling, since she created Dumbledore.
Not that I’m a fan of the Potter books or of her writing. I find her tremendously overrated.
Thing is, if Prof. Dumbledore were gay, why didn’t Rowling put it in the book?
i think this is a publicity stunt.
OMG I can’t believe that J.K Rowling would take her wonderful fantasy tale and later we all find out she put a gay person in her last book how sick is that?? I hope they don’t make that one a movie!!
i have never noticed that
